Notes:

Ceramic and Glass Mosaic Murals, Wrought Iron Railings, Granite Paver Floor Tiles. ... artist Frank Giorgini created a series of ceramic plaques [that begin] with a view of the city today, with skyscrapers surrounding Battery Park, then travels backward through time, passing scenes of the age of steamships, including a ferry pulling into a dock; a montage of New Amsterdam, with images of a walled fort, Henry Hudson's ship the Half Moon, and the early harbor; the arrival of the first settlers, with beavers representing the early fur-trading history of the city; and the era before settlement, Native American canoes and a marshland of flora and fauna. Images of birds unify the artwork, appearing to fly from plaque to plaque.... At the south end of the lower mezzanine, a school of fish is etched into the floor tiles, becoming three-dimensional in the form of a cast bronze fish hanging in an open area above the subway tracks and platform....completing the imagery of an unspoiled environment in an urban setting.
