Hoyt-Schermerhorn Street Station · Opened 4/9/1936

In all the following station descriptions, "south" refers to the "To Rockaway" side, and "north" refers to the "To Manhattan" side.

Between Court Street and Hoyt/Schermerhorn, the Fulton Street subway line connects with the IND 8th Avenue Subway coming from Manhattan via High Street and Jay Street. (Those stations were built as part of the tunnel crossing which opened in 1933; the Fulton Street four-track trunk line between Hoyt/Schermerhorn and Rockaway Ave. including Court Street opened on April 9, 1936.)

Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets. Six tracks, four island platforms. Tile color is light green with a Kelly green border; captions read "Hoyt". Four tracks are in service, the center pair serving the IND Brooklyn/Queens Crosstown Line, and the middle pair serving the 8th Ave. line. The outer pair are used solely to connect to the NY Transit Museum, but have been used in the past for the "HH" local and shuttle service to Court Street. There is a new Transit Police substation in the mezzanine; also there are large blue-and-gold "L" signs, designating the site of the former Loesser's department store.
