28th Street Station · Opened 4/14/1918

28th Street is next, again a local station recently renovated. The 1970s renovation tiles were removed revealing the original mosaic name tablets. A sealed off crossunder is outside the fare control, with most of the evidence of its existance removed during the renovation. At the north ends of the platforms, a false curtain wall was installed shortening the platform by about 10-15 feet. The area is visible from passing trains and one can see some more original "28" mosaics and tile band in the sealed off areas. New mosaic artworks have been installed all over the renovated tile walls.
