135th Street Station · Opened 11/23/1904

135th Street is next and also has platform level fare control and no crossunder or crossover between the two wall platforms. The artwork mosaic is entitled Harlem Timeline, by Willie Birch, dated 1995. The southbound side features Adam Clayton Powell, Joe Louis, the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture, Charlie Parker, Clara Ward, Louis Armstrong, among others. Northbound features the Globetrotters, the NAACP, the Abyssian Baptist Church, the Cotton Club, football on Randall's Island among others. There is a new name tablet along with "135" terra cotta cartouches.
