This is treated as a separate category from Films and
Documentaries because of the varying production quality and the fact
that they tend to just be videos of train runbys rather than the
traditional notion of "documentary". Thanks to Brian K. Munroe for

L-2: Manhattan's 6th & 9th Ave "els" 1920s-40s and old Brooklyn "els" 1930s-50s. Excellent 1920s footage that you'll rarely find on videos. Video includes 110th St high curve with views from up top and from the ground. Also includes some newsreel footage of the 9th Ave El being dismantled, Brooklyn Bridge footage, and plenty of views of the Sands St. Train shed.

Two volumes: Vol 1. BMT Lines, New Lots Ave., more (70 min); Vol 2. IRT, IND (90 min). Videos cover the elevateds and open-grade lines of the 50s to early 70s. The sound track is made up of early rock music from the 50s & 60s which is appropriate to time of most of the videos. Some of the best video footage and at $20 each they are a bargain.

This video is a bit unusual in that it includes quite a few winter scenes. You name it, it's on here - gate cars, Myrtle Avenue, Polo Grounds, crossing gates, snow, SIRT.
